This is probably the biggest problem this game has.

It has even been worse sometimes than seen in the video:
Coin / Green shell as 10th. Single mushroom as 12th or star as 2nd.

Items based on distance is the worst implementation ever. It may sound good but how is it balanced during gameplay? You are supposed to get much better items at bad placements in order to be able to catch up.

In competitive matches, it's much worse and one mistake means losing a decent placement! Keep losing or keep winning literally. :|
