I stole a rhythm game term, lol.

If you want big scores in Mario Kart Tour for stars or to compete in the ranked circuits, one thing that helps is big combos.

It is not easy but possible to keep one combo going all the way through a race. I have sure never managed it in any race that is not in a “trick” course with a T in its name and lotsa jumps. It is not super-necessary to keep the combo going all the way through, since points per action appear to keep increasing only until the screen starts saying “Fantastic”, then they stay at that level.

In this video I lost my combo one time. This particular course has two places per lap where I usually lose my combo unless I get help (a Frenzy or something). Also I usually lose my combo if another racer successfully hits me.
