Mario Kart Wii was announced to be on the Nvidia Shield TV in China in HD with full online, but what happened to the port?

-

In China, Mario Kart Wii wasn't released at the same time as the rest of the world. However, in 2018 MKW was announced to be ported to the Nvidia Shield TV. Considering the Wii wasn't a supported console by Nintendo anymore, it made sense to do so. The Nvidia Shield TV version of MKWii also had bug fixes and Mario Kart Wii in HD support. This means that MKW on the Nvidia Shield probably would have looked like Dolphin, a Nintendo Wii emulator developed by fans. Along with a full online mode on Nintendo servers, which we haven't seen since the Nintendo WFC Shutdown in 2014. This seems that it would be a trend to continue porting Wii games to the Nvidia Shield in China so China Nintendo fans could enjoy Wii games with the rest of the world. Super Mario Galaxy is a good example of this, as it was announced for the Nvidia Shield and then released. However, after the initial announcement about a Mario Kart Wii HD, there was no more news to follow up or any release date. What happened to this Mario Kart Wii port? Are we still getting MKW in China? On this addition of Mario Kart Wii Unsolved, we dive deep into the unsolved mystery of Mario Kart Wii Nvidia Shield TV.

Mario Kart Wii on the Nvidia Shield was an extremely big announced to the Mario Kart Wii community. Especially with full online support from Nintendo, that means China could play Mario Kart Wii online in 2021 without Wiimmfi and with Nintendo supported servers. The game also had MKW HD graphics which made the game look like it was running on Dolphin Emulator and fixed plenty of bugs. Could this have been a test for Mario Kart Wii on the Nintendo Switch? Or could this just be Nintendo wanting Nintendo fans in China to get access to Wii games including Wii games online in 2021. Is it still possible that we could receive this Mario Kart Wii port in 2021 even though the announcement was in 2018 and we have seen no new news about MKW Nvidia Shield since? This is what we aim to solve in this Mario Kart Wii Unsolved where we try to solve the unsolved mystery of The Nvidia Shield Port.
