Story Mode is the single player mode of this game. The gameplay is very similar to Party Cruise save for several key differences. All games pit one player against another player. These boards are shorter than Party Cruise and offer different objectives than Party Cruise's objectives. The spaces also give a slightly different coin amount to a player upon landing on one in this mode. Blue Spaces give 5 coins, Red Spaces take 5 coins, and Character Spaces give 10 coins. If 30 turns have passed and no player has cleared the objective yet, the game will end in a tie. In Solo Mode, players have to beat their opponent by using a Chain Chomp to take the Star Bandit stole from the Bowser Sphinx, then bring it back to the Sphinx before the opponent steals it from them.
