Mario Royale is a fan-made recreation of Super Mario Bros. in which 75 players from around the world compete to see who can beat a single world of classic Mario first! Super Mario Bros. works surprisingly well as a battle royale game... who would have thought?

(UPDATE: Unfortunately, Nintendo has filed a cease-and-desist order against the developer of Mario Royale. It seems like re-branding the game to DMCA Royale didn't help matters, either, as the game appears to have been shut down for good. I've decided to remove the game link from the description, since the game itself can no longer be accessed through any means. Sorry, guys.)
