Ten years after Donkey Kong was released for the original Game Boy, Mario vs. Donkey Kong showed up and took everything that made the previous game great, and improved on it!

The story is that after DK is unable to buy a Mini Mario toy for himself, he decides to steal a whole bunch of them from the Mario Toy Factory which is conveniently located just across the street! Mario must then chase DK through many challenging worlds as he attempts to rescue all of the captured toys.

The game plays a lot like the original Donkey Kong, with hammer items and low jumping height, although it also includes new techniques such as the hand stand and side flip. This game was originally planned to have Nintendo e-Reader support, although it was unfortunately taken out for the North American release.

MvsDK has had a lot of sequels, although unfortunately none of them have had the same gameplay as this game. Hopefully we will see a true sequel sometime soon, although if you are a 3DS ambassador you can play this game on that, which is really cool!
