Race Driver: Grid developed and published by Codemasters for Microsoft Windows, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Arcade, JavaME and OS X in 2008. It's the first game in the Grid Series. Codemasters has quite a fair bit of experience with racing games as they also created the TOCA racing series.
Grid Series: In May 2023 Codemasters released the Sequel Grid 2which used the improved EGO Graphics engine. Grid Autosport from 2014 was the third game in the series. The fourth game is simply called GRID and was released in 2019 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Stadia. The 5th and last game was published in 2022 by Electronic Arts and is called Grid Legends.
Gameplay: The player has his/her own race-team and you act as the main/primary driver. When the game progresses it is possible to gain sponsors and hire teammates that you can participate in certain events with as a complete team. With all the tactic and planning that is involved with that.
An interesting game mechanic is 'FLASH BACK' which allows you to rewind the active game for up to ten seconds and resume gameplay at the selected point. This allows for retries and honing your skills without having to restart the entire race. The number of rewinds the player gets is determined by the difficulty setting.
