1To complete this, the player must find every character in the game (hence finding Natsume and Tabby). In the OG, the marriage card was only available after that point. They gave it to you at the beginning of postgame, so I assume this was meant to hasten the process.
A Level 5 Pink Hearts character is then chosen. Any character at that point can be chosen to either be "married" or be "best friends forever." I went over my choice back in the Forest of Pain dungeon, and it just seemed obvious all playthrough. Well worth the wait.
