Since Gazillion lifted the NDA recently, I'm able to show you folks some of the gameplay in Marvel Heroes. The game is a Diablo style, action RPG set in the Marvel Universe. Unlike other super hero games, you actually play AS the heroes in this one instead of making up your own.

To some people, not making your own hero stifles creativity slightly. Players sometimes WANT to be their own flying, laser eye beam shooting, ice pellets from their crotch, super acrobat. In other times, people want to emulate somebody that already exists so they wind up making their own Deadpool clone. Marvel Heroes went with the straight up ability to just be the hero you already know. I don't think this is a bad idea. Aside from being a Hulk, Iron Man or Hawkeye, you can play as different variations by getting packs with real money. I'm not sure but I *think* suit variations drop in game. I do know that during the beta, I definitely had enough in game money to buy a few extra heroes. I played as Daredevil mostly with some Ms. Marvel on the side. Both of them offered different play styles as DD got in close and pounded on people while Ms. Marvel was solid at range. In a nice twist, you can swap heroes out on the fly and they share the same inventory. Playing on your Black Widow and get a drop you want to equip on your Thor? No problem. Just hit the key, wait a few seconds and here's your Thor.

While I find the graphics a little plain, I do enjoy the game quite a lot and would play it when it is live. I doubt I'd drop any real life money on the costume packs (the ultimate is CRAZY expensive), but if I loved a character enough, I might try and get an alternate costume. In the beginning, pretty much every Storm, Hulk, Thor and Deadpool looks like every other Storm, Hulk, Thor and Deadpool. You start seeing some differences at the higher levels where people have gotten different suits to drop.
