Mass Effect Andromeda is a third-person action RPG developed by Bioware and published by Electronic Arts. Players take control of either Scott or Sara Ryder, twins who are aboard the Hyperion on their way to the Andromeda Galaxy. The goal of the Andromeda Initiative is to colonize new home worlds. The game originally takes place between Mass Effect 2 and 3 in the year 2185, though that is when the citizens are frozen. It takes 600 years to reach Andromeda. Once awakened, the pathfinder team is lead by Alec Ryder, Sara and Scott's father. His job is to find a habitable home for the citizens. Unfortunately, there are other sentient beings in Andromeda, aggressive aliens known as the kett, who won't hesitate to attack on sight. The dialogue wheel is still in the game, though it has been tweaked. There are categories of responses: emotional, logical, casual, and professional. Each choice will shape Ryder's personality. The paragon/renegade system is gone, replaced with something more nuanced. Not all choices are black and white in Mass Effect Andromeda. As Ryder explores the galaxy and fulfills quests, he or she will gain Andromeda Viability Points which can be used for upgrades or building outposts.
