After Aiden Ryder wakes from a 600 year slumber, he slowly finds out that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, as it is discovered that Habitat 7, one of many “golden worlds”, didn't quite pan out as expected.
Alec Ryder, as acting Pathfinder, has no other choice but to investigate what happened, as 20,000 human lives on the Hyperion Ark depend on it. A task force, which includes Liam Kosta, Cora Harper, and Aiden Ryder, is created and sent down to the planet.
