Mass Effect is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It is the first game in the Mass Effect series. It was released for the Xbox 360 in November 2007. Then it was later ported to Microsoft Windows in May–June 2008, and PlayStation 3 in December 2012. Mass Effect was remastered as part of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts, it was released for the PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One on May 14, 2021.
The game takes place within the Milky Way galaxy in the year 2183, where civilization is threatened by a highly advanced machine race known as the Reapers. You take on the role of Commander Shepard, an elite human soldier who must stop a rogue agent from carrying out the Reapers' galactic invasion. This game includes a morality system, Paragon (Good) or Renegade (Bad), with appearance changes depending on your choices. Create and customize your own character, from appearance and skills to a personalized arsenal, then lead your elite recon squad across a galaxy.
