In his most recent FNAF Game Theory, MatPat used FNAF VR and the story Help Wanted from the Fazbear Frights Tales from the Pizzaplex book, HAPPS, to try and prove that FNAF 1, FNAF 2, FNAF 3, and FNAF 4 aren’t actually canon to the overarching Five Nights at Freddy’s timeline.

However, there were many things in his video that he either overlooked, got wrong, or misrepresented from both the game and the story that make the theory impossible, and while I’m glad to see that a lot of members of the community quickly said why it wouldn’t work, I’ve also seen many people who were confused about the state of the FNAF lore thanks to MatPat’s video, so in effort to inform and to reassure that Scott Cawthon did not in fact delete half his franchise from the lore, I decided to make this video.

I feel like I should say I’m in no way trying to rag on MatPat. I recognize he’s busy and getting worn out by the FNAF lore, and he’s actually been a major inspiration for me to make content in the first place. However, when he’s viewed as an authority by a large portion of the community, it’s disheartening to see him get basic details about the sources he’s referencing completely incorrect. I’ve noticed that several of his recent FNAF theories have been rather lacking in terms of evidence, even when I agree with them, but hopefully he does a better job of gathering and vetting his information in the future :D
