Max Payne (2001) CXBX-Reloaded Latest as of 08/2020 Emulator Gameplay 1920x1440
Gameplay of Max Payne (2001) being played on the CXBX-Reloaded emulator, latest version. Display resolution is 1280x960@60Hz for correct aspect ratio, internal resolution is 1920x1440, so ideal 4:3 for 1440p.
The only thing that is making the game not really playable, is graphical glitching of location trasitions areas, so doorways, or entryways. The engine of the game sems to be based around that. I've heard it wasn't like that not too long ago, so some fork of the emu in the last 6-12 months probably is to blame. And that is the biggest shame, because otherwise it would be a fully playable game, running in perfect framerate, in perfect resolution, not really demanding for the pc. Talking about pc, here is mine: i5 4460, 16 gb ddr3, gt 740 1 gb gddr5 + recording with obs at 1440p60. The emu is very undemanding GPU wise, but CPU it milks like a cow, so that's where the possible bottleneck would come from, if you asked yourself if you can run it. Any single ryzen these days could run this emulator 100% full speed, no sweat. Great optimization for an emulator, especially an emulator of the beast that is xbox, compared to Gamecube and Ps2. Emulators of these two are much more demanding, there is no comparison really. Especially PCSX2 is a resource drainer.
