Released in 2001, Max Payne is a landmark title that helps popularize bullet-time in games. Many were taken aback when it was announced in April 2022 that the first two titles in the Max Payne series would be receiving the remake treatment.

To say this came as a surprise to me would be a bit of an understatement. Anyways, it's been years since I've played any of the Max Payne games, so what better time than to go revisit one of my favorite titles?

I love Max Payne. There are fewer games that contain more charm, love and care put into it than Max Payne. The bullet time which is always fun, the memorable goons to shoot out, Max as a character, a well-executed story that pays tribute to the hardboiled detective stories with its own twist.

Max Payne can be a bit trial-and-error heavy, and you may be hitting the f5 and f9 keys plenty, but it's just one of those games where even with some of its flaws, the whole package just comes together.
