4I finally got this to oscillate after ordering some new zeners. The last circuit I put together had only 0.5W zeners which cooked. The replacements are 5W.
This is made primarily from recovered PSU parts. I believe HP DL580 hot swap PSUs. IRFP450Zs, toroidal inductors and large 1uF caps.
The circuit originates from the 4hv wiki at wiki.4hv.org,
