The Mk 48 is a Light Machine Gun featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It has higher damage and longer range than other light machine guns.

The Dual Band Scope will provide an infrared overlay of the battlefield at 1.5x magnification while aiming. Enemies without Cold-Blooded will appear bright yellow, while teammates and Cold-Blooded enemies will not produce a heat signature. The centerspeed will also be reduced by 10% at all stances, and unlike other sights with 1.5x magnification, the Dual Band will eliminate a great deal of peripheral vision. It should be noted that the Dual Band is entirely compatible with Variable Zoom, and the zoom levels between the two will be 2.4x and 5.8x.

The Dual Band Scope is an optical attachment featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The Dual Band Scope acts in a similar manner to the Thermal Scope of previous games, albeit highlighting enemies in yellow rather than bright white from previous games, with a green background. Enemies with Cold-Blooded and all friendly soldiers won't glow yellow when looked at through the scope. The attachment is available for light machine guns, sniper rifles, and the Crossbow. It reduces centerspeed by 10% and can be combined with the Variable Zoom Scope and Ballistics CPU.

The main point in which the Dual Band Scope is favored much more than Thermal Scope in previous installments is because of its night vision feature. It does not obscure the view as much as its thermal counterpart which blinds environmental structures even at small distances, so tracking Cold-Blooded users is much easier. For that reason, the Dual Band Scope is treated as an alternative to the Target Finder, especially on light machine guns. The Dual Band Scope gives the ability to see enemies through smoke, although with small view obstruction and reduced versatility when compared to the Target Finder. It also has a relatively low level of zoom, similar to that of a Reflex Sight. It also reduces recoil by a noticable amount, making it a very powerful attachment when lying prone, which will further reduce recoil by a large amount.
