This is something special:
A few months ago I've been contacted on YouTube by Heinz Schuller, who along with Mark Duncan wrote and performed MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries' OST. Heinz noticed the tracks I uploaded of the game's soundtrack, appreciating how much the fans love their work, asked if I'd like to also share with the world some never-before heard extra tracks that didn't make it to the game files.
Well, I took my sweet, sweet time (sorry about that!), but without further delay, here is one of the extra tracks we've never heard before!


While you're here, here's some information about the OST and the people behind it (Thanks, Heinz!):

m4m_davion_theme – was supposed to be used in some specific Davion scenario/presentation
m4m_mayhem – battle music
m4m_on_patrol – was supposed to be used during travel or between fights, maybe was deemed too long to use
m4m_opening_cinema – music for the game’s opening cinema
m4m_respite – didn’t get used, a more contemplative piece
m4m_strife – another track for action/fights, but didn’t get used

In terms of OST credits, Mark Duncan wrote & performed these tracks:

Behemoths
Floodgate
Hunter
Skitter Sprint

All other tracks were written & performed by Heinz Schuller.

A few general notes:

Both Mark & Heinz Schuller worked as 3d artists on Vengeance, and when Mercenaries came up they made a pitch to do the soundtrack, as they were both experienced musicians. Certainly not to take anything away from Duane Decker who did the Vengeance soundtrack, he’s a monster composer. But they really wanted to go heavier for Mercs while staying in the MW feel. The Mercs OST was finished & delivered to Cyberlore (Mercs developer) on August 2, 2002.
