The Commando was designed to be a combat focused alternative to existing scouts with slower speeds but much better firepower. It was successful enough that the Star League sought to obtain its patent, but the Lyrans successfully used political machinations to protect its exclusivity.
Overall, the Commando is a surprisingly dangerous Mech. Its 10 SRMs can threaten any class of Mech though it is rather fragile itself and should utilize ambushes.
