Medieval TW. Byzantine Late. Pronoiai Allagion.
5The hardest battles of my Byzantines campaign of Late period. The Late for this faction is the hardest period due to lack of suitable infantry. The faction itself doesn't have any heavy infantry available for training. Variangian guard becomes not available, the only unit of spears is a regular spearmen unit. Most heavy infantry should be hired as mercenaries from inns and they can't be replenished after taking casualties.
Thus the only unit left is a ponoiai heavy cavalry. Fortunately its easier to begin their training in late than in previous period.
As soon as the main late line will be byzantine infantry (which is outclassed by most enemy infantry by late period), some spears and archers the enemy must be weakened before reaching it. This video represents the heavy cavalry charge tactics for it to perform such a task and join into the fray during the last battle stage if necessary. Mounted archer byz cav is also good for weakening the enemy but its not that tough during crucial late phases if needed.
Byzantine empire has all means to show during late period that heavy cavalry is a force to be reckoned with.
