Mega Man III [NES] Playthrough #18, Skull Castle Stage 6: Dr. Wily and Gamma; Final Credits
This is video #18 in my playthrough of Mega Man III. Being the coward he is, Dr. Wily used a robot double to face Mega Man in his walking saucer. Arriving at the sixth stage of the castle, Mega Man can snag numerous weapon capsules and other power-ups.
In the boss room, it looks like Gamma is incomplete. Good news for us. The main challenge here is to hop up onto the right-hand platform. From there, it is simple enough to blast Hard Knuckles at the blue robot on top of Gamma.
When the enemy's life meter drops halfway, the true challenge begins. Dr. Wily completes Gamma's head and controls the massive robot from a control center in the helmet. Football-shaped charges will fire from Gamma's mouth, and Gamma will punch at ground level with its left hand.
It would be more of a challenge if a convenient platform had not appeared near Dr. Wily's control booth. All we have to do is jump from there towards the control booth and shoot it with Search Snakes. To get back up on the right-hand platforms, wait for the left hand to punch and jump from it to the platforms.
After some interesting closing scenes, we learn the identity of the mysterious Break Man. Unfortunately, we see a familiar flying saucer off in the distance...
This is certainly an interesting game. The story is pretty interesting for its revelations about Mega Man's "family history." The slide ability is quite a useful maneuver. Most of the music is pretty good, though the ending credit music pales in comparison to Mega Man II's. Honestly, I think they would have done better to fully play Proto Man's theme or to replay the introduction theme. Those are my favorite tracks in this game. Graphically, it's just slightly better than Mega Man II. There won't be any significant graphical improvements anyway until Mega Man VII on the Super NES.
Thanks for watching!
