Mega Man III - Stage 3 (GB) - Shadow Man [Boss]
Shadow Man[Boss]:
"You've outlived your time! Let's go!"
―Shadow Man, Super Adventure Rockman
Shadow Man (シャドーマン Shadōman) is a mysterious, stealthy, and powerful ninja-themed Robot Master. He first appeared in Mega Man 3. While little is known about his past, Shadow Man is rumored to have been a robot created by an extraterrestrial civilization. Further evidence comes from the fact the metal on Shadow Man's body did not match any material found on Earth. His deactivated body was then rediscovered by Dr. Wily, who then remodeled and reprogrammed him for combat. Shadow Man's Special Weapon is the Shadow Blade, a large hira shuriken coated with a deadly substance capable of deranging the functions of robotic mechanisms.
Shadow Man is a skilled martial artist and a master of ninjutsu magic — his abilities include being able to temporarily create duplicates of himself to distract or attack his foes, create smoke screens, and summon frog robots of varying sizes - including a giant frog robot to ride on or smaller ones to check areas for him. Shadow Man can also use the Kawarimi no Jutsu, a ninja technique that replaces the body of the user with an object, usually a piece of log, as defense in his battle in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters and Super Adventure Rockman, as well as when he loses a race in Mega Man: Battle & Chase.
Shadow Blade[WEAPON]:
Shadow Blade (シャドーブレード Shadō Burēdo) is Shadow Man's Special Weapon in the original Mega Man series. It is a large hira shuriken that can be thrown to attack. When used by Shadow Man, the shuriken is coated with a special, deadly liquid that is capable of deranging the functions of mechanisms. He usually throws two Shadow Blades at a time: one diagonally up and the other in front of him.
When used by Mega Man, the Shadow Blade is smaller in size, can only throw one at a time, and has a relatively short range. However, the blade boomerangs back to where it was thrown from, and he can throw it in five different directions (left, right, diagonally up and right, diagonally up and left and straight up). In Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, the directions are reduced to four, being unable to be shot straight up.
Mega Man III:
Like Mega Man 3, the Shadow Blade is obtained after Shadow Man's defeat in Mega Man III. The Shadow Blade is Spark Man's weakness. Punk and the Wily Machine are immune to it. Two Shadow Blades uses one weapon energy unit. With a full energy gauge, it can be used 38 times.
