I’m pretty sure there are four or five different Scorch Mans in the library of Mega Man fan games. Get a thesaurus, guys! Aside from my voice being particularly hard to understand, there’s nothing too wrong with this one – it’s not an especially difficult stage despite the preponderance of instant death. But WHY is there a gate that can only be destroyed with a second-half weapon? There are no goodies to come back for, no reason for there to be a destructible wall. This is one of the reasons I feel like this game wasn’t originally intended to be a four-and-four style…anyway, we actually have a weakness, but it’s…not really that effective, to be honest! Scorch Man does a lot of damage and tanks Valve Missile pretty well.

But that’s not all! We also have the bonus boss of the game, in the style of the Mega Man Killers! Trance’s battle is actually reasonably tricky – the pattern is fairly static but it’s hard to dodge everything. (Fittingly, the music is from Touhou – in fact, Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom, considered probably the hardest to date.) But beating Trance gets us her weapon – a surprisingly early acquisition! And it’s pretty darn good, too!
