Now you might be looking at this and wondering why you're not staring at my dumbass stumbling through X6. This is a boss rush I began working on in order to get a break from that game's bullshit, but the idea was there for a while; in case you're wondering why the focus was on this game, well it's for two reasons. One is the no wall restriction; theorycrafting just based off of memory, X2 and X3 right off the bat had many bosses that would be blatantly impossible without walls. X1 left enough of them possible that I decided to make it the focus of this challenge.

The restrictions of this challenge are as you'd expect; X takes no damage, and does not dash, or climb walls. To clarify, when I say walls, I mean the walls on the sides of the arena. Objects such as D-Rex's body, and Rangda Bangda's grey walls are fair game, hence "no wall", not "no wall climbing". Besides this, X also uses no weapons aside from one exception, and uses no upgrades for the mavericks. I use the arm upgrade against the Sigma Fortress bosses since it is a mandatory upgrade, and anyway, Velguarder Sigma can't be hurt without it, so no issue. For me anyway.
Individual Boss Comments:

Chill Penguin - You can restrict yourself as much as you please, it's probably not gonna make a fight with Gilbert here anymore difficult than it usually is. You might have a bit of trouble if he corners you, but that's rarely an issue with how fucking slow and telegraphed everything he does is, and how easy it is to get on the other side of his tepid ass.

Launch Octopus - Okay, COMPLETE shift here. This is the hardest boss out of the eight mavericks, he's the hardest under most circumstances, and without dashing or walls, you have zero breathing room. The fish missiles are your worst enemy here, and if he decides to corner you and then fire them, then hit that fucking reset baby. Beyond that, the fucking onslaught of missiles from this guy is as difficult to deal with as it usually is, you might slip by the fish missiles if he decides to fuck off and jump away or use his normal missiles after, but the chances of that are rare, and ultimately make for a hectic and involved battle.

Storm Eagle - A great chiptune track wasted.

Armored Armadillo - Good lord this battle is slow. Nothing Armadillo does is ever gonna be even close to a threat for you, but the losing attempts just from a lack of attention is a pretty ugly and prominent threat when you consider how long this slog goes on. At least he has a stage though, which is more than I can say for his flamboyant pink cousin from X6.

Spark Mandrill - HideofBeast called this guy a douche. I agree. Mandrill is one erratic fuck, he can use any attack anytime he wants with no warning, and without the ability to climb the walls, the attack where he punches the floor is basically unavoidable. The main issue is of course, the dash punch. There are two ways of avoiding this without the dash. You can fire a mid charged or charged shot at him, which will stop him dead in his tracks. Works well when does a dash punch once. Not so well if he does it twice. The other method is to jump over him, and this is fucking lunacy. It requires both close proximity and immaculate timing, not exactly two traits that are emblematic of a fight where you're already on edge from how quickly and randomly he can pick between what he wants to do.

Sting Chameleon - Fuuuck this guy dude. He seems to take inspiration from Bright Man with how quickly he can fuck you over no matter how much progress you make. The spike shaking speaks for itself, really. You'll barely dodge this with the dash, remove X's only way of not moving like a brick wall and things get crazy. Iron tongue becomes a big issue without the wall, and hell, even just not being able to hit him while he's hidden in the corner firing chameleon sting makes shit tougher too. Speaking of that move, cutting him down with his weakness is a very satisfying experience after losing so many attempts to Chameleon deciding to jump up, trick me into thinking he's gonna shake the ceiling, and then eating a face full of sting.

Boomer Kuwanger - This is a short fight, but it's got plenty of tension in those 40 or so seconds. Kuwanger is the most mobile of the eight by far, and will have you on the floor shaking before you manage to react to what he does with how much he fucking moves. It makes dealing with the boomerang cutter an absolute pain, and towards the end, he goes into full on crackhead mode with the teleporting. Good luck reacting to when he teleports into your fucking body. This is a real fun fight, but damn is it frantic.

Flame Mammoth - He can corner you unavoidably. It won't happen before you kill him. I promise.
