0I check out the Gallery section of the Mega Man X Legacy Collection for Mega Man X2. This shows info about X, Zero, return of Sigma new and improved, Dr. Cain, the new group of Mavericks and the three X-Hunters which consist of Violen, Serges and Agile.
Mega Man X2, known as Rockman X2 (ロックマンX2 Rokkuman Ekkusu Tsū) in Japan, and often shortened to MMX2, or just X2, is the second game in the Mega Man X series and was released for the Super Famicom/Super Nintendo in 1994. The game featured the same graphics as the first game, but was enhanced thanks to the use of the "Cx4" graphics chip (installed in the cartridge). The chip allowed for "semi-transparencies" and 3D effects. It was later re-released on Mega Man X Collection in 2006, then later re-released on Mega Man X Legacy Collection in 2018.
Six months after the destruction of Sigma and his Maverick rebellion, the Maverick Hunters sit at a mere quarter of their former ranks. Maverick activity had temporarily decreased, but is now steadily rising again. Analysis of captured Mavericks reveals special microchips that brainwash Reploids into Mavericks, each emblazoned with Sigma's insignia. Dr. Cain traces the source of these chips to an underground factory in the desert; it appears the remnants of Sigma's uprising are plotting a comeback. X mobilizes the Maverick Hunters to root them out.
However, after X puts a stop to the factory's operations, a new Maverick uprising begins. These eight SA-Class Mavericks wreak havoc near Hunter Base, manipulating the weather, summoning armies of scrap, bulldozing cities in giant tanks, and spreading the dangerous Maverick Virus over the internet.
As X quells the chaos, he is confronted by the leaders of this new rebellion, a trio called the X-Hunters: Serges, Agile, and Violen. The X-Hunters reveal that they have reconstructed Zero's body in three pieces; however, they required his control chip in order to activate him, which is in the possession of Dr. Cain. The X-Hunters challenge X to a series of duels over Zero's parts to see who gets to resurrect him.
Depending on the player's actions, X may or may not have gathered the three parts of Zero by the time he infiltrates the X-Hunters' base in the Arctic. There he destroys Violen, Serges, and finally Agile, the last of whom reveals that Sigma has somehow returned to lead his rebellion again. Descending deeper into the base, X hears Sigma's voice challenging him to face him.
X pursues Sigma to the Central Computer, finally facing him again. If the player failed to collect Zero's parts, they fight the Maverick-reconstructed Zero - however, if they were successful, then Zero instead appears reconstructed by Dr. Cain to aid X. Sigma then flees deeper into the base, with Zero telling X to chase Sigma while he sabotages the Central Computer. X destroys Sigma's new body, revealing his true form as the Sigma Virus and defeating it as well. The Sigma Virus dissipates, the Central Computer detonates, and X and Zero reunite by the sea. Peace is restored - but for how long?
The upgraded armor upgrades in Mega Man X2 has some new abilities like the Giga Crush, Head part that can find items, air dash, double charge shot and a secret shoryuken one hit kill move similar to the hadouken from the first Mega Man X.
