Megaman Zero Playthrough Part 1
It has arrived. The game came out today so why the hell not. Let's get this party started!
Welcome to Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, a game that compiles all the Mega Man Zero games along with both ZX games. It's available for PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Steam. We start things off with Mega Man Zero 1, a game that hasn't aged that well.
Mega Man Zero takes place 100 years after the events of the X Saga. It centers on a group of reploids who are a Resistance. They're fighting against an organization known as Neo Arcadia. In Neo Arcadia, humans are treated more fairly while reploids are discriminated. In some cases they can be considered Mavericks and put for retirement. A resistance group led by Ciel is the last line of defense against Neo Arcadia and their leader, X.
Zero is the protagonist here and he plays very differently from the X series. Here, you have access to two weapons: the Z-Buster and eventually Z-Saber. As you play through the game, you unlock two more weapons. Plus Zero has access to elements & there are three in total. Elements provide your weapons offensive properties plus it has a Rock-Paper-Scissors mechanic.
Ice beats Electric, Electric beats Fire and Fire beats Ice. Keep this in mind.
The game also has some RPG elements thrown in the mix. For starters, the Ranking system. At the end of a stage, you are judged by how good you are in the game. The faster you complete a mission, the higher your score is. You start at Rank F and the highest you can have is Rank S. Many factors come into play with one being the Elf system. Collecting elves aren't required for 100% completion but using them will penalize you at the end. Use them too much and your ratings suffers. Oh and the higher your ranking, the harder the game gets. It gets annoying if you want to keep your rating as high as possible. Zero 2 & 3 will be a pain for one reason: the EX weapons. I will explain when we get there.
For now, in today's part we cover the Intro Stage along with two missions. One advantage is that you can go back to previous missions and either stock up on Energy Crystals or level up your weapons. Yes. There is a leveling system in place where the more you raise their levels, the more skills you unlock. The Z-Buster has 4 levels and the Z-Saber has 7. I recommend grinding outside of missions so that way you can be ready for the journey ahead.
