Remember Megaton Musashi, Level-5's next big cross-media project? It was announced as a 3DS game way back in 2016, and its release was to be supported by a range of anime, toys and other media events – a process which has served Level-5 rather well with the Yo-Kai Watch series.
After a few years of silence – something that's understandable when you consider that the game has now jumped to the Switch and PS4 – Megaton Musashi is back in the spotlight. We already know that it's scheduled for release in Japan this November, and Level-5 is building up the promotional campaign with a new commercial, which you can view above.
Set in a world where 90% of the Earth's population has been wiped out, the game takes the form of a robot-battling RPG. As was planned back in 2016, an anime series will support the game's launch. In fact, the animated series kicked off at the start of October, and is accompanied by an internet anime spinoff called "After School". In addition to this, there's also a collaboration with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and a merchandising partnership with toy giant Bandai.
While a physical version of the Switch game is planned for Japan, there's no word on a western release – which is the unfortunate fall-out of Level-5's withdrawal from the West.
