If my main character (T1GlistenerElf is now Let Me M1A1 Him) is level 180 and is now helping with end-game and DLC bosses like Promised Consort Radahn, Hoarah Loux, and Radagon/Elden Beast , while King Leonidas (level 69, nice) and Kakyoin (level 85) are helping with mid-game bosses like Godfrey and Morgott, then May is meant to help with early-game bosses like Margit and Tree Sentinel… and perhaps Rennala or Radahn. This character, Megumin, is meant to fill one of the gaps between those two.

I don't consider a PvP character to be complete until I have all of the following:
14 flasks
+12 flasks
4 talisman pouches
The gear (weapons, armor, and spells/ashes of war) that is appropriate for that build.
Optional: Some number of Prattling Pates.
