Memory: Reprise [Cats] Lydia Faulkner | Vocal Cover
So, long story short I have been struggling to sing a note for the last few months. Most things I posted were recorded months back in advance. Hay-Fever and my throat do not mix at all. If my throat wasn't hurting, i couldn't breathe well.
So recently I have been trying to retrain myself, especially since I had the opportunity to record in a studio with a drama group I am with. My task for solos was to sing "On My Own" from Les Mis which was difficult on my vocals due to not singing and what my hay-fever was still causing.
Since then I have been trying to warm myself back up and "Shades Of Memory" was something I found both easy, yet challenging all at once due to the fact i am not a natural belter and the fact this time three weeks ago I couldn't sing a note..
I really love this song, never thought I'd have the guts to post it here, especially since my vocals still aren't 100%, however it isn't painful for me to sing anymore. I'm just occasionally battling for control, losing my breath or getting tired easily. Work my way up slowly. I drank a lot of water to do this and most likely disturbed my neighbours. I've never been the most talented singer.. hell, I'm not a singer really.
I shall most likely sing this again when I feel on top form, however until then I sincerely hope I didn't butcher it too much!! I felt emotional singing it, however whether I got the message across, I'm not sure... I've never found my own voice good or emotionally impactive.
Anyway, enough rambling! Hope people enjoy it regardless.. xD

LYRICS
Memory
Turn your face to the moonlight
Let your memory lead you
Open up, enter in
If you find there the meaning of what happiness is
Then the new life will being
Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember, the time i Knew what happiness was
Let the memory
Lie again
Burnt out ends of smokey days
The stale cold smell of morning
The streetlamp dies
Another night is over
Another day is dawning
Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of the new life
And I mustn't give in
When the dawn comes tonight will be a memory too
And the new day will begin
Sunlight through the trees in summer
Endless masquerading
Like a flower
As the dawn is breaking
The memory is fading
Touch me
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you
Touch me you'll understand what happiness is
Look
A new day
Has begun
