I've wanted to make this video about mentality in speedrunning and achieving World Records for the longest time. I succeeded at the highest level of speedrunning with time trial in Mario Kart Wii, and in that time I will always remember the growing pains of not getting where you want to be. It can feel fleeting knowing what potential you have but you can't quite capture it. It is my hope that any part of this can be helpful for someone who is trying to exceed at a high level in speedrunning for the first time, setting their own World Records, or maybe you've been out of it for a while and need an extra push to get yourself in the zone again. Everything discussed today can be applied for anyone, no matter what your goal is with what is most meaningful to you, and in the end, that is what matters the most. I would love to hear feedback of other speedrunners if they relate to any part of these aspects of mentality, what drives them or other frameworks they've used to help them succeed at the highest level.
