Thanks for watching the latest Blues on a Bench video!
I've set myself some parameters to create this series:
They will always be composed, filmed and transcribed by me, in one day.
There will be a new key for each video following the pattern - C, A, G, E, D
I plan to always film them sitting on a bench, but hurricane season still seems to be here! However, I do get a nice recorded tone inside, so every cloud etc..
Here is the full play list - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0SCYkr-Qgk&list=PL71MaQTHVgl0S0f1JZRsQzahp9nanpX3c
This is the 19th study! The fourth in E.
Playing notes and influences:
Merle Travis quite rightly has this picking style named after him. It has become a staple of instrumental and accompaniment guitar playing. Travis picking and learning the pentatonic scale for the first time are the two most significant light bulb moments of my guitar playing life.
We're in E for this one, deliberately keeping the chord vocabulary to a minimum to focus on that bounce between fingers and thumb on the right hand.
Two 16 bar sections make up this piece, keep your bass notes super steady to make the most of it!
