METAL CHUNKS in My 4Runner Transmission!! What Caused It? Toyota W56
Transmission teardown of the W56 out of my 1986 4Runner. Recently it's been clanking, grinding, whining, and making all sorts of crazy noises in 4th gear, plus other gears. Today I'm taking the transmission apart to get ready it for a rebuild and figure out what's wrong with it. I thought for sure that some gears would be blown, broken, or synchros would be bad or something, but I was wrong! It turned out to be a bad input bearing!
I could use your guys help in further diagnosing this. This is my first time taking apart a transmission and all I found was the bad bearing. Can that cause the issue you hear in this video? Let me know in the comments below - thanks!!
