Ever since camshot glitch, picking up the Five-seveN in Stage 01 became a requirement for optimal Big Boss runs. Shooting an unsuppressed gun makes cameras and turrets not see or shoot Snake from certain distances. Thus the second screen of the game goes from a simple screen (https://youtu.be/LqTYdXWsyK4?t=9) to one of the most complex and challenging screens in the run.

Thanks to how random noises are in this game, it's an absolute pain to route this.

1. Any guard could hear a noise if near it/visible on screen, and there are 7(!) guards nearby
2. When investigating a noise, a guard can stop in place and look left and right before continuing their path...they can do this multiple times
3. After a KO, guards can do a variety of paths to investigate the area

Without any weapons or useful items at our disposal (all we have is the Fogger), all we are left with to get through this area quickly is our fists and noises.

Our goal is to pick up the 5-7 before the cycle gets out of hand and we are required to wait an extra 10 seconds to proceed. Knocking just as the guard passes by the hedge forces him to dip up. This creates an ideal scenario to knock him out later or not at all.

This video demonstrates 4 different scenarios when doing this strategy. If you were clairvoyant, you would hope that the 5-7 guard would stand still and repeatedly look back and forth, letting us KO from his back and bypassing this strategy entirely. This is an RTA strategy if you have the patience of a saint.

The worst possible luck involves the lower guard going left slowly. We can delay KO'ing the 5-7 guard by punching more slowly, but too much of a delay leads to missing the cycle on the lower guards. This is basically a reset.

Assuming an alert run goes well (https://youtu.be/8dlJgZCuGqA), that ends up being a 31 on the timer. At best from these examples we can get a 37 on the timer. With this kind of luck, we can nearly the best possible luck from the stealthy laser room in Stage 11.

The Stage 11 laser room is the critical turning point in terms of alert routing in Big Boss, as you can go for a 5 second alert, or a ~11-22 second sneak. Average is around 18 seconds, but could use more testing.
