Metal Gear Rising: Raiden Action Figure Review By Square Enix Play Arts Kai
Play Arts Kai - Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Raiden
Package: Like other MG PAKs Raiden comes in collector friendly packaging with a window in the front to nicely show of the figure and accessories. It has some nice shots of the figure on the back to showcase what you are getting with the purchase. The top and sides have small slits witch clear plastic that are very eye catching. The inside of the box has the stand attached to it via a plastic bubble but removing it with cause some slight damage to the inside back of the cardboard.
Paint: The paint work is top notch and much care was put into it. Many fine details are present and all of them look great. Like the Cyborg ninja he features many small warning labels on his armor. The face is nice and clean and aid the sculpt in capturing Raiden's likeness from the game. The hair is silvery and transparent giving it a great look. The Armor pieces have a nice blue wash over them really making this mostly dark coloured figure stand out.
Sculpt: The figure is amazingly detailed and the likeness of the character is capture in every bit of the sculpt. The sculpt of the figure works well with the articulation not hindering it to any great extent and giving the figure the ability to be posed in a variety of ways and look great doing it. The small straps on his stomach sometimes can be a small hindrance as the bottoms are not fastened but its a very minor gripe. I should also point out that I believe Raiden is the tallest PAK to date being even larger than Solidus!
Articulation:Raiden has the following articulation: Mid foot swivels, ball ratchet ankles, double hinge ratchet knees, ball and swivel ratchet hips, ball waist and abdomen. Ball jointed neck, ball ratchet and hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, ball ratchet elbows and ball ratchet wrists. He has a few Armor pieces as well that can swivel.
Accessories: Raiden include his high frequency blade and scabbard as well as a high frequency knife that can be placed into the scabbard as well. 3 Smaller throwing knives are also included which have a sheathe that can be attach to the figure. All the accessories look great and can be held well by the figure. The scabbard also features articulation allowing it to be posed on the figures back or side or just about any other way you can imagine. He also includes interchange hands as well as feet allowing him to hold his sword. A face mask can also be swapped with the original hair piece. As mentioned earlier he also include a displayed stand that must be assembled.
