Here is a proof of concept.
We can play as Rex or Ray or whatever we want with the "proper" animations.

There are two problems:
- The animations indexes doesn't match between animations files.
*As you can see, when I press X with Ray, the falling animation is playing and not the one makes me go forward, etc...*
- I didn't take the time to check if I can hidde some models like Rex cockpit or MK.II when I play with Ray.

Sorry for the audio and video quality, the RPCS3 team made amazing progresses in such a small time but my PC still have some issues ^^
