For years I have spoken about Metal Gear Solid, I think of this franchise nearly everyday and have done so ever since I first tried the demo of this classic.

Metal Gear Solid means the world to me, with its characters, music, level design, sound effects, the way the snow falls, the way the walls glitch and the endless, adorable quotes that MGS1 is filled with.

If it wasn't for Metal Gear Solid I wouldn't have a YouTube channel making these videos. I likely wouldn't even be playing video games, at least as much as I do. Metal Gear Solid straight up changed my life and I couldn't be happier to say that. MGS brought to me a whole full of wild characters that opened my mind and changed my view of the world, as long as giving me some paranoia on how the world is ran.

From Revolver Ocelot to Sniper Wolf. From Grey Fox to Metal Gear Rex; Metal Gear Solid has the best line up of amazing boss fights and interesting characters that i've ever come across. Not one boss fight I dislike, not one boss fight makes me feel the game needed more time to be worked on. They're all so wonderful.

With a soundtrack people still hum today; Metal Gear Solid is an endless ride for the ears, making me feel as if i'm on a wild journey with an unknown end. For an action game it's actually surprising to get such a fantastic OST, usually it's left to JRPGs, side scrollers and any AAA 16bit era game, but not only does Metal Gear Solid have an everlasting soundtrack, but the entire series maintains that reputation to this day.

The Metal Gear Solid series lasted a long time, with a high number of instant classic titles, but Metal Gear Solid 1 will always be my favourite. While Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is a perfect game with far more replay value and will remain my most replayed title; it's MGS1 that breaths the atmosphere and life into my lungs.

As perfect, near perfect and deeply disappointing as some of the future Metal Gear titles are, I will always feel like they didn't need to exist. MGS1 is its own story, its own world, the game manages to create a universe that I feel is missing from future MGS titles. Almost as if they aren't real themselves. Though in a way that could probably work for them considering the themes they tackle.

I'm not saying Metal Gear Solid is perfect, no game is. But it reaches a level where the flaws it has aren't worth mentioning, where its minor issues are an afterthought.

Sometimes in a video game there may be a boss fight, or mission, maybe even a side mission or bonus stage that manages to miss the mark with the fans. It becomes infamous as a stain on the game. But MGS1 doesn't have that. I'd even extend this games near flawlessness to the VR spin off - Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, which is basically the same game only played through 300 VR missions. It shows how well MGS1 has been crafted.

Everyone knows Hideo Kojima these days, and even upon MGS1's release his name was big in Japan with a decent following in the west due to the original Metal Gear titles, Snatcher, and Policenauts. It came at no surprise to anyone when MGS1 was a hit, but to me; having just started gaming... My mind felt like it was on drugs.

While I disagree with some choices Kojima made with the Metal Gear Solid franchise; I will always be grateful to him, Konami, and everyone that worked on the Metal Gear series. And of course; Yoji Shinkawa for an art style I adore. Even more so than the actual in game models we are presented with when playing the game.

I wish Hideo Kojima, Yoji Shinkawa, and everyone at Kojima Productions the best of luck with Death Stranding and every game they create together in the future. The day any of these people retire from gaming will be a sad one. Good health and long, happy careers to you all.

I'll be having a blast streaming the MGS games. I tend to focus on fun; most times getting spotted in the original 3 (and mainly Snake Eater) MG titles is far more enjoyable than sneaking unnoticed.

Shoot outs in kitchens, behind trees and tall grass, and trying to make your escape once the enemy has started to gain the upper hand... the first three MGS games are like a playthrough of sorts, and I intend on taking full adventage of that.

While today the Resident Evil series may be my favourite game franchise due to the high number of knockout titles and insane replay value; nothing will ever match this one title for me.

Metal Gear Solid is easily, without question; the greatest video game ever created.
