I hope you are all healthy and safe wherever you are in the World right now and whatever challenges you are facing.

I've always had a fascination with Mobile games especially ports of existing console games or exclusive mobile versions of tent pole titles. The best ones are superb at capturing all the elements of their source material, others make interesting changes & become good games in themselves, others miss the mark by a margin.

This is Metal Slug Mobile Impact an entry in the long running & legendary series originating on Neo Geo and aiming to bring all that action to Java based phones instead of a high end arcade board/game console. This was developed by I-Play and released in 2005.

I'm a big fan of the series as Run & Guns are one of my favourite genres & loved the originals, the ports of the originals, the NGPC versions. While this does a good job graphically of capturing the detailed sprite work etc the extremely sluggish controls and lack of sound/atmosphere mean it is a frustrating experience all round. A shame as it is close to being really good & the developers have acknowledged the change of hardware & controls by slowing the bullets & including a life bar rather than single hit deaths of the early games.

Its my first play of the game for some time so I am fairly rusty - I play through a few levels, die a few times & end up spending ages trying to take out a single enemy helicopter........

Also - let me know what you think. Would you prefer the load times and screens to be edited out? I kinda like the "full experience" approach and to let the game or promo video or whatever to speak for itself but let me know feedback. I'm keen to experiment.

I'm also sorting my loft and finding all sorts of obscurities, oddities and nice games from my collection so I'll be doing some random vids.
