Metallica's "Blackened": 1989 Live in Seattle VS 2020 Pandemic Acoustic Version
In this Thanksgiving week music matchup, Mark is comparing a 1989 Live in Seattle version of Metallica's "Blackened" to an acoustic set the band posted during the 2020 leg of the COVID pandemic.
Why are we doing "Blackened" during Thanksgiving, you might ask?
Because this Friday is Black Friday, and we couldn't think of a better song to commemorate this loathsome and soul-sucking "holiday" than Metallica's song about the end of the world.
A special thanks goes out to Mike over at @TheArtofGuitar for his excellent video on the time signature changes in this song. We hope you'll go check out his video after this one. The change-ups are fascinating, and Mike makes them easy to understand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRQXVCrcUz8
