When playing video games got out of hand, I urged my nine years old son to pick up his guitar or paint something. He responded with the wish to learn programming and make his own game.
Ian came up with the idea, drew the game art design on an iPad and programmed a draft version. He helped on the iOS version wherever he could.
Playing video games is fun, but kids should learn that creating content can be even more fun. Creating things is more enjoyable and fulfilling than being just a consumer of art.
