The answer is yes:
The performance was amazing having set physx to use the cpu.... The game went from low 40's to an easy 55-60fps with the odd dip to 45fps, this game shouldn't be that hard to run.... i can hit 4k 60fps easily on much harder titles. Hopefully the drivers improve... Although i've really enjoyed this experience. There is also a strong chance that using the cpu may of disabled physx. i'll switch it back over to the gpu and even install a 1660ti and dedicate it to physx if the performance seems to drop. With over 5000 cuda cores their shouldn't be an issue though.
