This was as matter of fact my very first Metroid game.
Absolutely a masterpiece of its genre. Being used to shorter indie games made me forget how much production value and polish a AAA title with old-school concept can have when given the right budget and publishers + devs.
What I liked the most about it was the parrying mechanic introduction to the series, that I'm not sure if it will return or not, but that extra layer of gameplay mechanics was just what I wanted to feel more engagement with both regular enemies and bosses alike.
I can definitely say that playing this have opened up my appetite for larger titles. But I also know better that big titles with soul and without braindead gameplay are rare enough to come by.
Btw, I did try the game on Hard mode just in case the bosses do anything different, but I honestly couldn't tell what was the difference at all even in normal exploration.
