We face our second 'main' boss of the game (in that this one has a health bar), Flaahgra. This nasty, mutated plant is the source of the toxins polluting the Chozo Ruins, making the water dangerous to be around. It's dependent on sunlight and its root structure is weak. I wonder if we could use this to our advantage...

Defeating this boss earns us the Varia Suit, a much needed suit upgrade for travelling in high temperature areas. Guess where we're headed next?

Metroid Prime was the first game developed by Retro Studios, and was released in 2002 on the Gamecube in North America, with it following in Europe and Japan the following year. It was the first time Metroid had transitioned from 2D to 3D, and it proved a critical and commercial success.

Retro Studies went on to develop two sequels - Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and still continue their profitable partnership with Nintendo today, developing Donkey Kong Country Returns, Mario Kart 7 and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze to date.
