"But wait!" You may say. "How can the game time be one hour and twenty-eight minutes when the video is clearly almost three hours long?"
That's because the way Metroid Fusion calculates times, it only accounts for ACTIVE play time. As-in the times where you are directly controlling Samus. It doesn't count all the cutscenes, the dialog, game pauses, or even screen transitions. And the way I like to do my recordings for this channel, I like getting the story narrative out. It's why I even leave a very deliberate couple seconds after dialog has finished scrolling on-screen to allow people a chance to read it, even though you guys could also just easily pause the video. Look, one of the few comments I get outside of nostalgia based comments on Kirby Super Star Ultra is that people say the dialog goes by too quickly for them to read, even when I thought I took my time with it. Guess I'm a fast reader?
Anyhoo, Metroid Fusion is a funny game for me. I've played it I don't know how many times over the past 20 years, yet I never fully memorized where every item was until I practiced up on it for this video. And even then, I had to play this game a total of FIVE TIMES to fully memorize my item collecting routes before I recorded this! I always kept forgetting something, either the lower area past the second fight with the security robot or the upper deck area at the start of sector 5 where you gotta shinespark though the door to get the missile tank and power bomb.
But hey, now that's Metroid 3, 4, and 5 in the bank! I really wanna complete as many Metroid games as I possibly can on my channel, so that just leaves me with 1 and 2 left. I'm certain Zero Mission will come to Nintendo Switch Online in due time, while the original NES Metroid is available. Plus there is Metroid II: Return of Samus for the Gameboy now available! Oooh, and I got Samus Returns on the 3DS. Been a while since I busted out the capture unit for that. Either way, I'll have to play these games over again and start doing practice runs to get 100% of the items as quickly as I can. I don't care to set any world records, but the opportunity to get the "best" ending is always welcome.
