After exploding the entire planet Zebes, Samus escorts a research team on the Metroid-less homeworld of SR388, but not all is well. Samus gets infected with a parasite that quickly invades her central nervous system and results in her crashing her gunship into a meteor! Samus nearly dies but the Galactic Federation finds a cure - a vaccine made from Metroid DNA! The baby Metroid has now saved Samus twice over!
But now Samus is stripped of her abilities as her armor had to be surgically removed. The Metroid Vaccine has also altered her DNA! Samus will no longer become infected with the X, but she is also part-Metroid and weak to freezing cold!
Now in this weaker state, Samus goes to the BSL research lab in response to a distress signal. The distress signal gives Samus a sense of dread. What lies in wait?
