...is no longer a threat. The galaxy is at peace and Metroid II is completed! We didn't do too well on time, but other than that, I think we did good - 4 out of 5 energy tanks and 17 out of 22 missile expansions! This just happens to be the one Metroid where items don't matter towards the ending...
Oh, by the way, I found out after finishing the game - I won't be going back for this or anything though - that there's a 100% secret optional boss named Arachnus hiding in the area where we first saw the Butt Flies who try to drag you into the sand. It's a vaguely-turtle-looking thing that disguises itself as an item sphere and if you kill it you get an item that lets you jump in morph ball form. Neat!
