Metroid Prime 2 - Torvus Bog (Light and Dark) Synth Cover - (Microfreak, Synth 1, Renoise)
Metroid fans got some good news recently with Metroid Prime 4 finally being announced for real this time! Which is your favorite Metroid Prime game? I have a hard time choosing. I really like the second one but some of the Dark Aether stuff was tedious and a lot of the times it felt like a Zelda game with the Luminoth guys telling you where to go and then find three things to open the thing before you can do to the next thing! But then the first one had the stupid Chozo Artifact goose chase!! Felt like Metroid Prime: Needle in a Hay stack!
I've been wanting to do this one for a while and figured now would be the perfect time to take a stab at it! I was really happy with the drum sounds I got in Renoise using my trusty synthwave drums and gooove bpb plugin, Daichi's Synth 1, and the stock Renoise fx. I find it kind of crazy I've been using Renoise for nearly 20 years and I still discover stuff and have a lot to learn with it! I'm also too old and stubborn to switch to something else! Ha!
I also got some good stuff with TAL Noisemaker and Vital for background pads but most of the rest of the synth sounds I got were from the Microfreak. I really laid it on heavy with the wavetable and FM oscillator for the "Dark Aether" part of the track!
I hope you like my cover of this one, I really like this kind of atmospheric dark and moody track! My cover isn't a 1:1 cover and I took some liberties but I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for checking it out and I think Metroid Prime 4 looks great even though I don't have a Switch and probably won't play it for 10 years lol
Original song by the one and only Kenji Yamamoto.
