This is a video walkthrough / playthrough / runthrough / etc of the Game Boy Advance game Metroid: Zero Mission. This video is a 15% item run on hard. What this means I only collect 15 items while going through the game on hard.

There are some items you have to get regardless, but you are left to pick out a couple of extra items that you think would suit you best. There is no one right way of going about this. I do highly suggest picking up at least one super missile upgrade while attempting a 15% run on hard just because the room with Mother Brain will have you tearing out your hair if you don't have it. While it could be possible to defeat those barriers with only 2 missiles, trying to collect more missiles from those ring things while hoping the barrier doesn't regenerate is going to be a pain in the butt. With a super missile upgrade, you should be able to destroy those barriers without any problems, then go back a room, refill, and then go back and destroy the next barrier, etc.

Some people would have you destroy Ridley first before Kraid, and while you could, I feel it's not really needed. Yeah, you could go fight Ridley first and pick up that super missile upgrade, I just think it wouldn't really have helped much during the Kraid fight. While I would be able to fire one super missile into Kraid, I wasn't going to count on a super missile to show up again after destroying one of those claws since normal missiles are more likely to appear. So while it might have taken a few seconds off the boss fight, I just didn't think it was really needed.

Before I attempted this video, I did some heavy studying and practicing various techniques. I wish I did this before attempting my 100% video since it would have made things look a bit better. The Ridley fight, for example was quite easy if you just stay under him during it as you'll see in my video. I also more or less got down the bomb jumping technique. I pull it off after getting that grip item, but I sort of mess up later on (guess my button pressing was a split second off...Meh..) But it's not too hard to learn, and once you start it off, it's pretty easy to continue on with the correct button pressing rhythm.

Another thing I studied up on which I wish I did before was how to the zero suit section of the game after defeating Mother Brain. I was a bit careless in my other video, but this time I was able to reach the end of that section without being noticed all the while using various shortcuts. The hardest part I think was the very first space pirate. You have to get the timing down on his turning around so you drop down and shoot him at just the right time.

I'm quite happy how this turned out. It took a few tries and a lot of studying up before actually being able to do it. Having done the previous video helped quite a bit, and learning a few new things definitely helped. I wasn't going to do this video since I figured doing the 100% item run on hard under two hours would be the best thing to do. After thinking on it, it kept bugging me that the other big challenge would be the 15% item run on hard, and I just had to get that particular ending picture...I have it now, so that should be that in terms of videos for this game...
