Ian Malcom arrived at Richard Levine's apartment where Dr. Thorne and the kids have recover some InGen files from the company's old computers. They manage to identify the island where Dr. Levine went and headed back to the garage. But, unbeknownst to the group, someone else also wants to find Site B as well.

Surprising Fact: On the novel, The Five Death were shaped like a bow, where in the film, The Five Deaths were shaped like a moon.

The group returns to Thorne's workshop, his assistant, Eddie Carr informs them that the Explorer and the trailers are complete and ready to go. Thorne tells him to pack because they are leaving immediately. As Eddie prepares, Thorne enters his office to place a call to Dr. Harding to tell her where they are going. Arby and Kelly remark that they also wish join the vague expedition however, Thorne and Malcolm object stating it’s too dangerous for them.

Fun Fact: This particular part of the novel was adapted in the film, but it was much different from the book and very fast paced.

While studying the pack behavior of hyenas in Africa, Sarah Harding receives a call from Dr. Thorne, concerned, asks her if Levine ever told her what he was studying. She states that he did not and Thorne replies that Levine has gone missing and is in trouble. He goes on to tell her that they have managed to locate him on an island off the coast of Costa Rica and are leaving immediately to find him. Thorne asks if she wants to come along and Sarah replies that it would take nearly a day to get there, if she was lucky.

Lewis Dodgson tries convincing Rossiter, the head of the Biosyn Corporation to give him one final chance to require the InGen Technology to create their own dinosaurs.

Surprising Fact: In The Lost World, Michael Crichton retcons Lewis Dodgson being a research scientist and instead, he is described as a manipulative, a thief and without hesitation resort to murder someone in order to achieve his goal for Biosyn Corporation no matter the cost. In other words, he’s probably the worst person you don’t want to be involved with.

Interesting Fact: Some of the dialogues about exploitation from Peter Ludlow and Roland Tembo in a deleted scene were based from the book.
