Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020: Best Settings for Low Spec PC/Minimum Requirements for performance
If you are playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on a low spec PC or on one that just meets the minimum requirements then most likely the automatic settings that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 selects for you PC would be low. However, MFS2020 does not utilise your PC when it does so and does not offer either the best performance nor playing experience (as it sets all graphics to low, when PC can handle some combination of medium and high graphics) by automatically setting your PC to one of the four settings category. Thus if you are running on a low spec pc or one that just meets the minimum requirements you are much better off changing each of the graphical settings in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, as this will not only deliver the best performance but also the best graphics that your PC can handle and thus the optimal playing experience. Therefore in this Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 tutorial I show you which settings I use on my low spec PC (specs further down), which allows me to play MFS2020 on medium graphics, with buildings set to high, without any performance issues. Furthermore, I go through each individual graphical setting and what is the best preset to select to deliver the best graphics that your PC can handle and also which settings will boost performance.
Please note that whilst these settings work for my PC, they many not necessarily work for your PC. However, the best way to find the optimal settings for MFS2020 that your PC can handle is by trial and error, while baring in mind the consequences of changing each setting under graphics (all of which I explain in this video). To determine what kind of FPS you can expect at each graphical settings make sure to first ensure your PC meets the minimum requirements: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/microsoft-flight-simulator/19451 Then check what FPS your GPU can achiece on each graphical setting: https://www.game-debate.com/low-vs-ultra-graphics-settings/35975-microsoft-flight-simulator/3540-geforce-gtx-1060 If your GPU can achieve above 30 fps at medium or high then you should be able to play some medium or high settings respectively; the same also applies for ultra settings.
MY PC Specs:
-----------------------
I5 3570 3.4gz
GTX 1050 2gb vram
16gb ram (recommended)
1TB WD Blue
