In this video, we take you around the 2019 #MidwestGamingClassic from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Since 2001, the Midwest Gaming Classic has grown to one of, if not the, largest gaming conventions in the entire Midwest. It features much more than gaming, it has books, manga, comics, movie stars, wrestling celebrities, and much more.

I had planned on attending the 2018 edition of the Midwest Gaming Classic just as a fan. Mother nature would have other ideas however as a giant ice storm hit the day that I was going to go. When that happened I made sure that I had plans to attend in 2019, and I had more than just plans.

I was able to get in contact with one of the organizers of the event, and discussed hosting several panels. Being from the area originally, I wanted to support what I see is my hometown event. Growing up only 10 or 15 minutes away from the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee, it was great to be back home for such a cool event.

I was invited to the show as a panelist, and I had three separate panels for a new concept that they were testing for the show. They had their main stage where people like Ernie Hudson and Eric Bischoff would be featured, but they also had what they called the "Winner is You stage, and this is where things like video game trivia, Rock Band Concerts, and little old me would have our presentations.

The three different presentations I hosted involved how to get the best picture out of your retro video game system, how to properly clean your games, and perhaps most controversial, why clone video game systems are not the devil. I had fun doing all of these, & for my first appearance here I was pleased with how the panels went

The show itself was huge, taking up several floors of the convention center. They had free play pinball and video games, Eon Gaming was there with their Mario Kart tournament, but they also expanded to Smash Brothers and Soul Calibur.

The sales area was massive, and there was stuff for just about every system there. I couldn't believe the first morning that I got there that one booth had over six Vectrex systems for sale. It's pretty impressive. I noticed that the prices marked on a lot of games were marked high, but with very little effort the sellers would be willing to drop their prices down. For example a copy of Streets of Rage 2 that I purchased as a gift was marked $35, but the seller took $25 dollars. That's a pretty big jump!

Outside the hall they had an artist row where I was able to once again meet Brian Collins, the creator of Rampage. I had met him originally at the MoGamesCon, and he was still nice as ever. perhaps the two people I was most excited that I got to meet was Ernie Hudson, Winston Lattimore from the Ghostbusters, and Tad Stones, creator of Darkwing Duck, Gizmoduck, and Rescue Rangers. I didn't realize that he was going to be on-hand otherwise I would have brought my copies of Darkwing Duck with me for him to autograph. Well, I'm a pretty huge fan of his work, so I bought another copy while I was on the show floor for him to autograph.

All-in-all, I had a great weekend, met a lot of amazing people, and I cannot wait to come back next year. if you are located within driving distance of Milwaukee, this is a convention you need to plan to attend. Thanks to everyone at and with the show for their amazing hospitality and friendship. Until next time!
